This article is so chock-full of resources that I have bookmarked it! As someone who has not been pregnant ever, but who is graced with lifelong IBS and, recently, Crohn's Disease, I can confirm that what affects one part of this complex system can affect the whooooooole thing. I keep intending to start PT but it's so easy to put off. This was a helpful nudge!
Hi there! I'm also a never-pregnant person with pelvic floor dysfunction related to my Crohn's disease. Just want to say that pelvic PT has been so helpful for me, and I hope it helps you too :)
This was amazing to read, thank you! We are so glad you found this edition helpful. So sorry you're dealing with IBS and Crohn's– you're so right that everything is connected way more than we might think, especially when it comes to pelvic floor health. Definitely make that PF appointment! Wishing you well. Mia x
I’ve noticed a huge difference postpartum between my pregnancy before pelvic floor PT and after a pregnancy with lots of PT support. No more leaking and I feel in a much better position overall with the knowledge and strength I’ve gained through paying attention to my pelvic floor!
Pelvic floor PT changed my life (diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction at 26 years old). I wish it were available and accessible to all women. At this point it seems like most physicians (and many ob/gyns) aren't familiar with it enough to refer out, and even if they were, there aren't enough providers-- and on top of that, insurance coverage is inconsistent.
So sorry you've been dealing with PFD but so glad you were able to find help and relief through Pelvic Floor Therapy. I really hope the time comes soon when docs/OB-GYNs refer anyone in their care to PFT following birth (or ideally before!). We gotta keep spreading the word about all of its amazing benefits! Mia x
